About ChargedStays
ChargedStays is an independent comparison site for one specific travel problem: you drive an electric car, you need a hotel, and you need to know before you book whether its charger will actually charge your car. We list hotels across the United States and Canada that have charging on site, with the details that decide it: connector type, power in kW, how many ports, and whether charging is free, for guests only, or paid.
Where the charging data comes from
- US charger details come from the Alternative Fuel Stations registry published by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the US Department of Energy's public station database, mapped station by station onto each property.
- US and Canadian charger details are also read from ChargeHub, station by station, matched to a hotel only when the station really sits at that property. A charger on the curb nearby is not the hotel's charger, and we do not count it as one.
- Hotel details (address, coordinates, photos, guest scores, review counts) come from the booking platforms we link to. Scores and counts are shown exactly as collected, never edited, never our own.
- Descriptions are rewritten by us, with AI assistance, from the listing text on those same booking platforms, and edited for one reader: someone arriving with a car that needs charging overnight. No charging detail is ever added from a description: those come only from the registries above.
What we refuse to publish
We never invent or estimate a charging detail. Every connector type, power rating, port count, price and access rule on this site is something a source actually stated. When we do not hold a detail, the page simply does not show it. A blank is not an oversight, it means we would have had to guess, and a guessed connector type strands a driver overnight.
We also do not claim experience we do not have. Nobody here has stayed at these hotels or plugged into these chargers. What each page carries instead is the date the data was last checked, so you can judge how current it is. Charger hardware, pricing and access rules change without much notice: confirm with the hotel when you book.
How this site makes money
When you book through links on this site, we may earn a commission from our booking partners, at no extra cost to you. Commissions never affect which hotels we list, how they rank, or the figures we report. Ranking is deterministic: guest score first, then how much of the property we can actually show, then how complete its charging detail is.
